Lara Moriarty earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Society from University of California in 1995. She then attended New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. While there she interned with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and United States Army JAG Corp. After graduation and passing the New Mexico Bar, Ms. Moriarty was an Assistant District Attorney for Second Judicial District in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, where she tried numerous criminal bench and jury trials to verdict.
At the request of the Chief Metropolitan Judge, Ms. Moriarty helped develop and run a new Traffic Court program. Once the new Traffic Court was running smoothly, Ms. Moriarty became an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Albuquerque and continued her litigation career defending public entities and law enforcement agencies for several years. Here, she tried several federal and state jury trials to verdict.
Ms. Moriarty then relocated to California where she continued to defend public entities and law enforcement agencies all over the Central Valley. Her practice grew to include medical malpractice defense, defense of schools and school districts, as well as personal injury defense. She continued her litigation career practicing insurance defense, personal injury defense and commercial trucking defense, to include as in-house counsel for a large national insurance company for several years. Ms. Moriarty is also highly experienced in Alternative Dispute Resolution efforts, such as mediations, settlement conferences and arbitrations.
Outside of work, Ms. Moriarty enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She is involved in her children’s sports teams, school projects and community programs. She also enjoys classic cars and traveling.
